Eco-friendly practices and green manufacturing techniques have been woven into the culture of Grand Rapids Label from the very beginning. In fact, we were one of the main driving forces behind the Tag and Label Manufacturers Institute’s Label Initiative For the Environment (L.I.F.E.) program and were also the first company to receive official L.I.F.E. certification. Since then, we’ve also achieved ISO 14001 environmental standards certification.
Our commitment to Mother Nature goes far beyond manufacturing certifications. All aspects of our operations are designed to reduce waste, conserve valuable resources, and improve the health and well-being of the communities we serve. This is accomplished in three main ways:
Safe, environmentally-friendly products. Many label manufacturers are willing to invest in cheap, toxic dyes and adhesives. Not here. For more than 100 years, we’ve been a full-service label manufacturer, meaning everything is done in-house. This reduces carbon emissions significantly while allowing us to get creative and try new and innovative techniques.
Recycling. Each of our departments has internal recycling programs in place, designed to reclaim and reuse waste that’s produced in our manufacturing facilities. By die-cutting all of our labels, the need for extra liners and adhesive materials is also significantly reduced.
New technologies. We’re regularly investing in new technologies that are designed to save energy and improve efficiency. As climate change becomes a real and growing threat, we’re committed to doing our part to help our community and planet as a whole.
