Ah, yes! It’s that time of year again. Now that the temperatures are dropping and the leaves are starting to fall, it means we’re just a few weeks away from the annual Michigan vs. Michigan State football game. No matter which team is your favorite, the fight for the Paul Bunyan Trophy is always memorable.
If you’re trying to make plans for the big event, here are three suggestions for fans of every level.
1. Tailgate. Michiganders know how to have a good time. Whether you bleed blue and maize or white and green, if you’re a true football fan, you’ll be tailgating on game day, even if its 30 below. Bring brats, hamburgers, hotdogs, or all three. You’ll also want buns, plenty of condiments, and a wide selection of cold, adult beverages, preferably from Grand Rapids Brewery Co.
2. Host a rivalry party at home. If fighting traffic and freezing temperatures aren’t your thing, host a rivalry party at home. All you need is a working television (or internet connection), some good food, and friends. Get creative and make Spartan or Wolverine-themed pretzels, cookies, or martinis. 3. Visit your favorite sports bar or restaurant. If you live in a one-bedroom apartment, hosting a party at home probably isn’t an option. No problem! Visit your favorite sports bar or sports-friendly restaurant instead. Wear your team’s colors, and you’re sure to find at least one or two other folks you can cheer along with.
